Butch has in the past built quite a few shotgun to double rifle conversions as well as the many guns he now builds from scratch.
I would think he would have a pretty good idea on which steel type would be best suited for your job.
Whether he can find the time to reply might be another thing though.

Thanks, but gunsmits are like magicians, they hold hard on their knowledge. I will probably do much faster by the trial and error way. And learn more by it.
