Good choice on the bedding compound. I've used Devcon plastic steel since 1972 for bedding rifles. It's the best, especially for kickers.
: I don't full bed the barrel unless it has a recoil lug as well.
; Cross bolts, done well, are great. Another method is to inlet a square piece of steel, just at the rear face of the recoil lug, full width of the action plus another 1/8". Either seem to work for me with no further trouble.
