I shoot the 9,3x72R in a Burgsmüller Hammer-Drilling from 1922 very well.
My favorit load is 42gr. of Rottweil R902 in the Sellier&Bellot case with the 193gr. Sellier&Bellot Flatnose-buillet. The Vo is around 1860ft./sec with a 26,75" barell. Its a fabolous load for row-deers. Sellier&Bellot cases have a little bit lesser volume than the RWS, so don´t use the max. loadingdatas for RWS-cases. Use soft standart-primers in Hammer-drillings. CCI200 are to hard. Federal Benchrests, Sellier&Bellot LR, or Hirtenberger 1225 are the better choise.
The 9,3x72R-ballistics you can compaire with the .30-30WCF with havy buillets or the .375Win., alias .38-55Win. The games which you can took with the 9,3x72R are the same, than that one with the others. Row-deer, white-tail and black-tail. The max. range for the 9,3 is 140yards. Here in Germany it is forbitten to use the 9,3 to larger games than row-deers.
My great-grandfather also shot wildboars and deers in the 1930´s with the 9,3x72R.

Two years ago I bought a fine ferlacher side-by-side Combination in 16gage and 9,3x72R with hammers and Lefauxeau-Log. Next year I´ll let fixed it by a gunsmith.

But be caution, that you only use loads with smokeless powder in guns which are proofed for that. A lot of of guns are just proofed for black-powder. It´s the same like your .45-70 guns in the States.
