but about 400 rounds into the project there was a hairline crack at the back of the tang...really not much to get excited about, but I called the smith and explained what had happened...his response was to put some super glue in the crack and buff off what oozed out of the crack...I would have expected neither of those things from any competent smith, either the tang crack or the response on handling the problem...

If that was a Mauser, or Mauser clone action, sounds like the stock maker failed to releave the wood dirrectly behind the tang, or the laminations are coming apart. Any stock maker worth his salt knows a stock shouldn't fit too tight in that area, especially in a heavy recoiling rifle, in a Mauser action, and some others as well ! However, if the lamination is seperateing he needs to make you whole on that stock! His fix is nothing more than a band-aid! I'd be interested in knowing who this stock maker is! PM if you don't want to make it public!
