I'd prefer a #1A in .357 Maximum just to have the longer case for black powder loads, more fitting (for me) for a 'modern' hammerless Rook rifle.
; This would indeed by a nice little gun, with the option of heavy smokeless powder loads for larger game.
; A .40/50 Sharps chambering, straigth or bottle necked would also make a nice #1.
; The Ruger #1 action is quite suitable for any rimless or rimmed round likely to be barreled up in one.
