Hi 338;
The brass colored disc in the center of the grip
cap is a cover for a #2 Phillips wood screw. The disc is
brass and pressed into the screw recess and usually very
hard to remove. Try freezing it with dry ice and tapping.
This has worked for me once. You can leave it in place as
Ruger finishes the wood under the cap. Good Luck
