Entertained my "know it all" (every family has one!)brother in law this weekend and got into a hunting debate. He hunts whitetail and has never shot anything more powerful than a 30.06 and sees no need for anything else.

We discussed DR's and he responded that they were prehistoric low tech just like double shotguns and have only survived due to snobs with a gun fetish and African laws prohibiting semiautomatic weapons.Bolt actions were better, etc etc.

I couldn't stand it so I meekly said little and suggested we go shooting.I got my 7mm08 and my 8.5 pnd unscoped 458 Wm model 70 with some hot 500 gr 2100+ fps handloads and off we went.

You guessed it--

We shoot the 7mm08 and then for laughs and giggles I shoot the 458 two times quickly. I hand it to GA and he actually shoots the 458!! ONCE!!

Yes, I am guilty as charged.He is in total shock with a look of extreme pain and concern on his face and I am having problems with baldder control and laughing uncontrollably!!
I ask him whats wrong and he just looks at the 458 again.
I told him that I am glad he didn't try a real African gun, a Double rifle because those old prehistoric SOB's hit even harder.

Then he gets really pissed and won't talk to me the rest of the weekend.

Was it worth it? H*LL YES!

My wife is royally pissed when I explain events. I am rude, crude, mean, and cruel and don't explain myself well.

I thought I communicated wonderfully!
A man has got to know his limitations.

Maybe he will never speak to me again. But,somehow I doubt that.
