bonde - You can have the trigger pulls lightened on your Merkel 470… within reason.

Make sure you have a reputable DR gunsmith do the work. I don’t know where you live, but this is obviously not a task for a “Jim-Bob’s Gun Repair” shop.

4.5-5 and 5.5-6 is about as light as I would think you would want go in the Merkel, but that’s really up to whomever is working on your particular gun.

The Merkel does not have intercepting sears and the concern with going too light for the rear trigger in a 470 is that the gun doubles from the recoil of the right barrel firing.

In a lighter recoiling rifle (9.3) you could probably go lighter with fewer worries, but in the heavy-recoiling, dangerous game calibers, you’re better off safe than sorry.
