Recoil How Much is Too Much ???

To The Group

I'm putting together a custom rifle in 9.3mm Ultra Mag. I would like to use it for Elk hunting here in Oregon. I can walk +10 miles in a day looking for animals up and down hills. I would like to build a light rifle to reduce fatigue in carrying it. Here's the question I plan to push 250grn bullets around 3000fps generating aprox 5000 FPS of energy. What would be the lightest I should build this rifle. I know recoil tolerance is relative. I can shoot an ultra light 300wm or my RSM 375 all day long without a lot of problems. I just dont want to bust my shoulder, face and behind in the woods with too light of a rifle. I'll bench rest it at the range to get the loads worked out. I am using a remington 700 SPS rifle in 300 RUM (7 5/8lbs from the factory) and having it rebarreled to 9.3RUM.

Questions Are:

Should I keep the rem factory profile and SPS stock (ie 7 5/8 lbs)?
Should I Flute it?
Should I get a Rem 700 safari profile barrel and a BDL Mag Stock?

Any input would be great.
