I doubt they were attempting to create a problem or a solution, seems to me they made the rifle because they could.
And those rifles are made to a very high grade, they're very expensive, and for all it's worth, they're an interesting excercise in the gunmaker's art.

No one spends that kind of money on a sporting rifle out of need. They spend that kind of money on a sporting rifle because they can, and there isn't anything else being built that compares -- good for those who'd want to spend the money on one, good for the gunmaker.

I wouldn't kick one out of my vault.
