Very good question. I think everyone has there own preferences
but I TRY to fire 2 shots, one after the other if I can and then reload
- often on the run.

However, I find that at the first shot (on unspooked game, in my case
Buffalo), the animal is on the run so the second shot is often at a running anmal.

I prefer to take the second shot quickly as they can cover so much ground.
I then reload, on the run if needed.

With wounded game or charging game, I make a judgement on the situation at the
time. On one big bull that was going to charge after the second shot had spun it around,
I fired when it dropped its head to charge. On the unwounded cow that charged,
she started running at 40 yards I just waited until she got to 15 yards before firing
as I only had a scoped 338 in my hands.
