I have it too on all my guns. If you have to track a Buffalo or Lion or any dangerous animal into some high grasses for example, you can't use a scope there and you need to remove it as fast as you can, to put it again when you are out the grasess.
When you need to use it, you REALLY need it.
I think this made a gun more versatile.
