What rifle would you recommend as a 'NEW' Double for a first time buyer?
Pretend that the buyer knows nothing about and has never shot a sxs.
Let's stick with the under $16,000.00 rifles and stick to brand new rifles.

What caliber? 7 x 65R, 9.3 x 74R if Non DG, 470 if DG

Scope or not? Yes, in QD Mounts

Stainless Steel or not? NO

Cocking Safety or not? NO

Searcy, Merkel, maybe Chapuis - based on my mates gun.

In O/U, Beretta Silver Sable or Gold Sable.

Just my HO.
