Yes, you should be able to reload with the butt of the stock still in your shoulder.

Start practising slowly with a .22, concentrating on accuracy and reloading and
then work up the calibres - 243, 30-06, 375, 458, 500 etc etc and you will soon
be proficient at it (at least on the range !!!)

Practice enables me to achieve (with a Scoped 30-06) 4 shots in 10 seconds,
with ALL of them in the killing zone at 50 yards (9 or 10 ring on an 8" Black Bull)

Also, IF it's dangerous game, I prefer to keep my eye on the game and find that if I
pull the gun off the shoulder, I automatically look down at the gun.

Regarding loss of Brass - when hunting animals, forget about the brass. It's inexpensive
compared to what you pay for an OS hunt / Trophy fee. You may lose 4 - 6 cases
if your unlucky (I find your normally find the first 2 shots where you started shooting, it's the
ones you fire while running through the bush that you may not find).

That's my .02 cents worth. I would be interested in hearing other people's views.
