It's possible (in most African countries) to buy a hunt for x amount of days and then shoot whatever animals you like rather than have a package of x days and a set number and selection of species. However most countries have some kind of restriction on some species........... for example Tanzania will not allow you to shoot Elephant, cats and a lot of other species on a 7 or 14 day licence.

Is it cheaper?........sometimes it is, but not always. One way to save money is to take photographs but not have any taxidermy done. This also gives you more hunting time and earlier this year I had a (Brit) client do just that......he managed to shoot 16 animals in 7 days hunting..... although that did give him one hell of a bill for trophy fees! We did however manage to reduce this by selling his unwanted skins & trophies for him.

As with most things in life there's a trade off. What you gain on one hand, you lose on the other.

If you're looking for a less expensive way to gain experience of African hunting then the best way I know to do this would be for you to come on one of my African Master Hunters courses and then stay on for a short hunt afterwards. (plug plug!)
