IIRC the Sierra 300gr. have thinner jackets than the Hornady.
My bro put one of the Hornadys through a mouse's ribs exiting out the off side. The moose was only about 40yards distance. Initial vel. was 2,260fps from his .45 3 1/4" Sharps. The exit hole was 1" in diameter.
Moose walked 30 yards & dropped. The powder used in the load was Reloader#7.
