I read it was about 100,000 pounds or dollars. A lot of money in the 1910s.

I don't believe the $14 million. Even given a hundred years of inflation.

Karen Blixem spent madly though. She used to go to Paris to buy a wardrobe of clothes from the topnfashion designers. This is alluded to in the movie "Out of Africs", her chic outfit.
