there were 3 of them all looking very similar. the mod 98 hunting rifle was made by the state factorys Danzig, Erfurt and Amberg for a short time, maybe 1919/1920. The Danzig and Erfurt rifles don't have the wedge, I don't know about the Amberg made rifle. Don't find a pic, think this was the rarest of them.
iirc, the Danzig made rifle have "Danzig" on the position were the mount is on yours. The rifles from Erfurt have there "RWE" what's Reichswerke Erfurt and the Amberg made rifles have there "Amberg".
