"Birmingham Small Arms (BSA) Lee-Enfield Pattern Bolt Action Sporting Rifle, #11990, .375 Nitro Express cal., 25" barrel, rust blue finish; checkered walnut one-piece pistol grip stock with blank round escutcheon plate in the underside of the buttstock, which ends with a smooth steel buttplate, slightly proud at the toe, providing a 14.25" LOP. Rifle also features a replacement front sight in the original dovetail, three-leaf express rear sight, and detachable 3-round magazine. Factory markings are clear, with "BSA Co." on right side of the action body and "B.S.A." on barrel at breech, with numerous English acceptance and proof marks on the right side. Mfg'd prior to WWI. Rifle is in fine overall condition, retaining approx. 90%-92% thinning rust blue finish, with wear at the muzzle, scratches and scattered spots of minor surface erosion. Receiver retains considerable toning finish with tasteful border engraving on the straps and trigger guard. Base of the magazine displays 70%-80% coverage in fine scroll engraving, screw heads are engraved, and the buttplate shows light border engraving. Magazine shows plum colored toning. Stock is in very good condition with scattered indentations and bruises that are consistent with years of field use; checkering remains very good with some flattening and smoothing. Action functions smoothly and locks up securely. Bore is very good with traces of light erosion and well-defined rifling. Initially referred to as Lee-Speed rifles, BSA and LSA stopped marking their rifles as such after 1914. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (C&R"
