Good link, Marrakai.
I was in Kalispel in April of 1975 and called John B. from Les Bauska's shop, giving hello's from both Les' hoping to get a visit with him. John had fallen and was "not in good enough shape to have visitors" as well as "give my respects to the Les's for me" were his words. Our mutual friend Les Hawkes knew both Buhmiller and Bauska very well. At that time Lester H. Hawkes was living in B.C. and had become a close friend of mine in the 3 years I knew him. Les spoke very highly of both Bauska and Buhmiller.
At that time, I was using 2 primers in my .458 2" to help improve powder burning in the straight case. This was, of course, after reading an article by "old" John on the process.
I was able to reduce the powder charge by 10gr. and still got the same performance, 2,300fps with a 350gr. Hornady from the 2" case. Instead of the primer being in the middle of the charge, it was placed cup-down on top of the powder and held there by the bullet. Doing this eliminated unburned powder in the barrel after firing. It still gave a 3' diameter fireball out the muzzle. H335 was the main powder I used.
