Thanks for raising the issue. I have always wondered how safe those Mausers and Mannlichers with dovetailed receiver were. It just seemed like they were significantly reducing the sytrength of the rifle. However, as you say, there are a number of rifles with dovetailed receivers that are still in good shooting condition.
