Ah yes the Browning sticky stock syndrome where half the hunting area vegetation comes home with you.

Rubbing cooking oil into the stock helps restore the Duratouch feel for a while but is not permanent. I put up with it on my X-Bolt 7mm WSM until it got the better of me and I decided to strip the Duratouch and refinish the stock. Spray can of Goof-Off, a small smooth edged steel spatula, a green scouring pad and hot water. Removed the recoil pad and sprayed stock with Goof-Off which jellyfied the Duratouch. I then scrapped off the gunk with the spatula and the scouring pad while standing the stock in a sink with some hot water which I could soak the pad in, keeping hot water away from the factory bedding compound.
When I finished the stock had a nice matt finish to it, like a very fine sandpaper, but looked horrible, patches of white in places. Once thoroughly dried I used a spray can of quick drying black semi-matt urethane paint to spray on the stock and used a lint free cloth to wipe the paint into the stock surface before it dried. Wiped on a couple of coats.

The 'chequered' panels came up glossy with a nice contrast to the rest of the stock with a semi-matt finish. Hard to describe the surface, not rough but nice to hold and not slippery in the wet.
Was very pleased with the overall job.

Not a close up but good looking stock finish on the Browning.
