At first - the ways that Boars are hunted here in EU - JFYK.

Single hunts

1. High seat hunting at the feeder and (or) at passages. Usually, the boars that are coming to the feeder are well known, on passages are random. Hunts are taking place in the late afternoons into the night and can last as long as you are able to sit it out (whole night is doable – however during winter months nights are bloody long...luckily usually pigs come earlier). For piglets and yearlings is all year round same for trophy tusker – however for tusker (in my parts) best time is late February early March, but you can get it later as well. Sows are protected from March till July in parts around here – depends on a country.

2. Stalking – usually during the night, or in good areas also during the day (spring-summer months), when nights are shorter and in the spring when grass is growing, they like to graze into the day – after rain time is also prime…Moonlighted nights are hard to beat scenery like however dead dark night with thermal optics is usually more productive.

3. Hunting with good “Boar-dog” – there are parts and dogs where/with those hunts are doable – you start with a dog guide and his dog that is let loose and it sooner or later finds a boar – many times a tusker – dog is equipped with GPS tracker and once the boar is stationary you approach and shoot it – can be physically demanding.

Driven hunts

It can be done either free range or high fenced. If free range your expectations should be adjusted – many come, some shoot.
High fenced – much better opportunity wise – also some high fenced areas are so huge that you won’t notice the fence – only when entering and exiting – it will cost more tho.

BUT- If you are coming alone you will have to join a group of not known hunters (sometimes locals) – those scenarios on occasions don’t play out as expected…be prepared.

Just some thoughts…

For Slovenia and Croatia you can contact my friend at - there is no Boar mentioned on his site but we hunt together in Croatia and have some good connections there:
