I apologize for the delay in responding.

Thank you to all of you because you've added a lot more options for consideration that I hadn't thought of myself.

Palmer, if I get an ordinary bead I think I would prefer a huge ivory one. My eyes are just fine (20/10 vision) but bigger and brighter is faster so I prefer big and bright.

Marrakai, Searcy uses sights from New England Custom Guns, which I think are sold in Australia under the name Recknagel.

new_guy, have you used any of Trijicon's custom sights yet and if so how good is their custom work? I've only tried them on a SIG .45 ACP years ago, they were quite good after dark.

500grains, I hadn't thought of fibre optics until you mentioned them. Unfortunately my only experience with fibre optic sights is in borad daylight so no idea what they are like after dark. It seems like a fibre optic in lime green would be superb though.

JPK and 500 Nitro, soon as I'm finished cleaning up a storm related mess here I will try a spare gold bead sight and file it at an angle and see how it works with my eyes. I have doubts as to my ability to use a file with sufficient precision though...

MauserRifle, all the options are rather confusing...it was easier when I only knew of one option...
