I started with a Model 94 30-30 at age 15 my first pay, but soon yearned for a cannon, in 1975 the 25-06 was getting the publicity in the old magazines. I wanted one of these in Parker Hale 1200 however the calibre did not become available further out & I settled for a BSA CF2 in .270W, things sure got lively for the spindly 15yo. I didn't want a 30-06 because the ol' man had an old modified FN which wasn't pretty for a young fella. I am a .270 fan & on my second rifle beacuse the first one wore out.

The .270W is an exceptional long range hunting cartridge for medium sized animals & would crucify the 6.5 Creedmore for downrange performance if one used a tactical higher twist rate barrel & the gimmicky high BC bullets. My load for my ol' Model 70 achiecves 3000fps with a 150gn hunting bullet BC .470. There is no real match hunting beacuse the Creedmore is considerably less powerful. My .270 has shot verything including large feral horses in big numbers, but perhaps its 1.0 MOA performance (more likey me the bum doing the shooting) isn't humdinging... I only use a 3-9 variable on this rifle because any bigger than three magnification means you won't catch up to the running pigs & dogs.

On the other hand the 30-06 is slightly superior because heavier bullets are the ticket to true clean kills in all scenarios. Maybe the .270 is a bit flatter but to be honest that is outside practical/ethical hunting ranges anyway.

We all got favourites but comparing apples with bananas does not make sense, stick with your favourite!
