That video brought back some good memories. A mate and I hunted buffs in the Northern Territory in that same era, 1978 it was. In addition to shooting some loner bulls for their trophy heads we would also shoot other buffaloes near the end of each day to make up loads of meat for our guide who culled buffs to supply his pet meat business. Our guide would leave us at camp and drive back to his base with the load of meat to be processed and packaged for pet meat supplies.
Similar to in the video we would use the old Toyota Landcruiser to tow the buffs where they dropped to a shady area where we could bone them out in some sort of comfort from the heat. The big horse flies that inhabited the area had a vicious bite.
My mate had his Brno 7x57, our guide his 338 Win Mag and I, my Mauser 404 Jeffery. The 7mm and 338 required head and neck shots to put the buffs down whereas the 404 knocked them over with any good body shot. Our guide shot from his Landcruiser but my mate and I got into the scrub after some despite cautionary shouts from the guide not to follow the buffs in as it was too dangerous. Quite crazy stuff it was.

Good head shot loner bull with the 7x57 and 160gr NP reloads.

Boning out the loner bull.

Myself in foreground and our guide boning out a few more buffs at the end of good day hunting.

Five more cull buffs dragged together ready to start boning out the meat.

My mate with a good old cow down, eventually, with the 7x57. Was standing beside him while he got another shot into its head as it stood up again, when a bull came charging through the scrub toward us, the 404 dropped it a couple of yards away with a high frontal chest shot. Never gave a head shot a thought.

Me and guide processing some more buffs, I had my good big skinning knife and sharpening steel on the belt not the puny little show knifes that most carry around today.
