Hi Roy,

I feel your load is far too strong.

Here in England we have lots of knowledge of how to load the Rook rifle cartridges, especially since the pistol ban in 1996. My data from September 2000 gives a load of 3.0 grains of Vihtavuori N320 powder (similar to Red Dot), with velocities of 1081, 1080, 1076, 1106 and 1107. Bullet was an 80 grain soft lead bullet cast locally.

remember that the bores sizes vary a lot! My H&H had a bore of 0.292", whilst other makers were often 0.300". H&H deliberately kept their bores tight to increase pressure and so accuracy.

I never like Unique anyway, but I believe the new variety burns better?

HB
