If your grandfather bought the Hollis 2nd hand, the gun may not have been expensive but could have been expensive when new. Refinished damascus barrels are very nice looking.

There are several people stateside that refinsih damascus barrels. There may be several people that subscribe to this forum that finish damascus barrels.

I had Carlton Hamlin refinish a set of Lancaster damascus shotgun barrels, and they came back just beautiful. Bill Schwarz also refinishes damascus barrels.
