Acorn Bolt Knobs

This little feature is something I've never consciously noticed before seeing a number of examples here. A couple of questions....

What rifles or geographical areas were these found on/in?

Was there a specific style of rifle for which these would be common? That is, full stock, antler trimmings, etc.

Lastly, I scrolled through the 'At Auction' post and captured a number of images for reference. If there are other, especially close in, shots that are available, I would appreciate a copy or a link. A Google search for the likes of "acorn bolt handles" is very unsatisfying.

Thank you for the assistance.

Oh, everyone likes the 'back story', right? I inherited a '95 Mauser from my Dad which he sportered with a full length stock and an antler forearm tip and grip cap. He bent and ground the bolt handle into a somewhat 'spoon handle' shape but there's not really enough material there for it to look right. My thoughts are to cut and weld a new handle for it and the acorn shape is appealing.
