Great research.
On my last trip to Alaska, I decided to bring my Glock 40 with Underwood 220 gr HC bullets because everything I read showed it had great penetration. While we didn't see any aggressive bears, it was comforting to have that pistol along. While placement is extremely critical, it is nice to have 15 opportunities to get placement right (of course, if the bear gives that much time).
