"Made in Austria" appeared from the early 1920's, in the immediate post-WW1 period; before that Austria did not exist as a country but was part of the Austria-Hungary Empire. However some rifles manufactured post-WW1 with pre-WW1 stock parts may not bear the "Made in Austria" marking.
