Yes it is a tang/thumb safety with rotary magazine and counter it is near mint. The reason previous owner wanted to sell was ammo hard to get here in Australia and he wanted to get a Ruger lever in .44Mag???????? I praised the Ruger and I got the Savage!!!! I now have a Savage 99 in .358Win. and one in .308Win now a .300Savage would be nice.............
