Comments to my question:

Bryan Carter Joint guard

Stephen Belgre Hemp oil

Brady Munson Good looking dog mate. Some very basic advice, throw a couple of fish oil tablets in with his dinner 👍🏼

John Hahn Same as for humans?

Brady Munson John Hahn yep exactly the same. Cheap and works a treat

John Hahn Same as the doctor tells this "old dog" to do.
If handed anything he usually eats it readily. Will see with the fish oil.

Brady Munson John Hahn mate it’s great for us and them 👍🏼. Just stick it in his dinner and he won’t even notice it.

John Hahn I used to give him a raw egg occasionally and also some peanut oil. Haven't done the latter for a while. Must buy some more.

John Hahn I mainly did both for hair and skin health. '

Paul Dodd i got 4cyte from vet for my old dogs hips seems comftable more often now

Talia Duell 4cyte, also ask your vet about cartrophen injections

Brad Youd We are in the same boat with our 12yo girl. 4cyte is certainly helping as has some hydrotherapy

John Hahn If it rains enough he can have a swim in the creek. He still runs about anyway.
But actually is not keen on swimming. My previous GSP loved the water and went for swims by himself even in the middle of Winter. This boy was a drought puppy, and drought for years. And drought fro years again. Tries everything to not retrieve in the water and never goes for a swim unless thrown in.
Pity. The next boy, Donder, needs to be a thundering swimmer.

Andrea Stejskal Hemp oil from health shop and krill oil and Tumeric has been good with my 11 year old.

John Hahn Got some krill oil with tumeric/curcumin mixed in. So tumeric is OK for a dog? Just double checking?
If he doesn't get these expensive pills I will be swallowing them.

Tim Oleary I have just started my dogs on some tumeric. Recommended by an American friend of mine. It's an Australian company and he swears by it. Claims the difference in his I'll older labradors is day and night. My dogs only started it last week.

I got the cancer one for my old dog and the normal one for the younger dog.

Janine Blasi Rosehip Vital for Canine...
My dog also at 13yo has regular physio sessions. She really perks up after an adjustment.

Luke Warner Janine Blasi I’ve recently seen videos about this stuff. How good is it?

Carlo Iacobucci Luke Warner Used it for a while on the old girl for nill effect.Might work for others.

Janine Blasi Luke Warner. I've just started. My dog refused to eat Turmeric or Golden paste. She's getting weak in the back end now also. So tough watching them age

Mike Brincat Janine Blasi yes it is tough watching your dog getting older and physically deteriorating. It is just as hard watching myself going through the same process. We are old dogs physically, but mentally we think we can still run through those paddocks like a young dog. Just be patient with us and let us do as much as we can without expecting too much. Let US decide when we can’t hunt anymore.

John Hahn Physio? This boy stills runs and carries on. He just complains about being stiff in the evening, and has an early night.

Janine Blasi John Hahn . She is so much happier after a massage ( Bowen therapy). The difference is amazing. I wouldn't deny her that treatment every few weeks.

Mira Lauko Radiographs

Margaret Cotton Check the heart.

Andrew McInerney Sardines in oil mate good for coat n joints

John Hahn Tried fish oil tablets last night. As expected he spits them out. So its in the mouth and hold the jaw up while he chews and pretends to swallow, until he gives up and does swallow.

Andrea Stejskal John Hahn look up McDowells herbal , they specialise in all sort of issues with animals. Kate has been wonderful with my questions. I have Piper now on Hemp seed oil and few other things, have helped a lot.

John Hahn Thanks for the replies. Will source some stuff to give it a try.

Susan Brown My old dog has trouble getting up, very wasted on hind legs and is incontinent. On 4cyte, vitrate, old dog pills, meloxicam etc. Is still cheerful but for how long. Has his electric blanket. So hard.

Lisa Hope Antinol Rapid is a great product

Susan Brown Liquid vitrate in 10ml syringe down the side of the mouth. No worries.

John Hahn Someone mentioned their dog having an electric blanket. I forgot I bought a sleeping electric heating pad for my previous GSP. Never really used it. Blitzen, above, thinks my house is too cold, and toddles off to the bedroom to sleep next to an oil radiator heater most nights. I'll have to find that heating pad, I am sure he will love it. We spoil our GSPs.
My previous GSP Siegfried developed a tumour mid way in his spine. Possibly from a car accident. He ended up paralysed in the rear hips and was eventually put down at eight or nine years. I don't like these rear hip problems of Blitzen's too much a reminder but thankfully old age this time.
Thanks for all the answers and suggestions.

John Hahn BTW Blitzen decided to do his old aggro puppy antics this afternoon. He decided to teach me a lesson. I left him alone in the backyard. So decided to rip apart a garbage bag and spread the rubbish all over ....
