"Tell" rifles are lightweight stalking rifles, typically in smallbores up to 30-30 case head size.
Barrel lengths tend to be around 26" with a weight under 6#.
They are usually plain, but I have seen some that were a bit more ornate.
The tang safety and underlever opening make it a perfect stalking rifle and with the long barrel they carry and point well.
I have never seen one without double-set triggers.

For the game like pork, I have worked on them in 9.3x72r, 8.15x46r, and a 6.5x52r with claw mounts that is currently residing in Montana.
I currently own one in 8.15

That 6.5 (25-35), would probably be enough gun to cover any east coast woods hunting. I developed loads before it left NY. A 117gr hornady rn would clock just about 2200 and shot under an inch at 100yds.

You could probably find a Kipplauf in a larger caliber but the weight would go up unless it had a dural frame.

I also worked on a combo gun in 6.5x52 x 20ga. Beautiful gun and also weighed under 6#. Would be great to have the additional shotgun barrel with a load of #4 buck or a slug.
