As per what NitroX says,

"Remember to arrange with them that you wish to carry firearms and ammo in checked
luggage. Qantas will send or fax to you an authorisation letter."

The email address to request Authorisation is to Michael Montuori

mmontuori@qantas.com.au

Make sure you get it as they can refuse to fly you if you don't have it
and it's getting stricter all of the time.

The Sequence of cities you are looking at is fine. As per the other poster,
have a look at flying direct int Darwin if you are staying in Perth for any reason.
