Here in Northern BC, they Ministry of the Environment(game branch) has a list in some districts and call people on the list when an ungulate is hit & killed. Anyone can be put on the list. The party hitting the animal does not get it, unless they happen to be at the top of the list.
I knew a family up here - well, closer to Smithers, who had every member of the family on the list. There were a lot of them. The mostly moose kills all went for dog food or coyote/wolf bait. Mostly the latter.
