Hello Nitrox,

Yes, indeed! This part of our country is beautiful! I was born in Cordoba, a province in the center of Argentina, also very nice with a variety of landscapes. But Patagonia is another thing. Low people density, great open spaces with mountains in the West, steppes in the center and East. Fantastic rivers with all trout species and, of course many Red Deer, Fallow Deer and BIG wild boars really wild.
Unfortunately the rifles I showed are not mine but of a friend living up north. I have others I showed here and hunt with them. My present favorite, because the cartridge and because the perfect fitting to me, is the BRNO ZKK 600 9,3x62.
Sorry, also, for the off topic. So, to come back to the original one. Another 7,65x53 ammo, the best of all the 7,65x53 our 1909 Mauser rifles ever used since they arrive here before WW I, is the FN military ball ammo we import in 1978. We call them the FN 78. Was purchased by our government arsenals in that year as a fresh ammo because all the former lots made here were expired years before.
This FN 78 was, relatively soon after its arrival, released and sold as surplus to the shooters and members of our Tiros Federales (Official supported shooting clubs originally founded across the country by the Swiss immigrants arrived at the end of the 19th Century). Today, the existences of this ammo is almost dried up. Period. I used it in military rifle matches and still have some 100 rounds boxes.
They are made with the original 7,65x53 Mauser specifications, somewhat different in the rim and head diameters than the 8x57 and .30-06. The 7,65x53 shares these dimensions with the original ones of the 7x57! That FN 78 cartridges have: Berdan non corrosive primers, 45 grs ball powder and 174 bullet, an extreme boat tail full metal jacket of .312" diameter. It is said that the FN made them as match ammo. If not, it should be! Because it is, I repeat, THE MOST ACCURATE 7,65x53 AMMO ever used here!!!! Many shooters-hunters replaced the bullet for 180 grs .311/312" soft point hunting ones without any other change. The quality of the brass is incredible! I have some Berdan RWS primers so I have reloaded some.
Sorry for this long writing...

Best

PH
