John, thanks for the photo's. 'Fraid JW doesn't even have a PC, so you'll have to have it from me. He's a Brit and owns a gunshop in the South of England. Now semi retired his son Phillip runs the business and leaves Jack to have fun. I'd sent the shop a few brochures for them to put on the counter and as soon as Jack saw them he booked a hunt! We hunted one of the best areas in RSA and he booked the most expensive grade of camp....... at US$380 per day for a 1x1 hunt. ($275 2x1) As he hunts pigs in Poland & Germany etc he was particularly keen to get a warthog........... actually he eventually shot 6 of them during the hunt, along with a red duiker (which we called very successfully) 2 common reedbuck, 2 impala, a zebra, an nyala, a kudu and 2 grey duikers. He was just too slow for a bushbuck (shame we didn't get the 3 spiral horned antelope in the 1 hunt!) a bushpig, a bigger kudu and a mountain reedbuck. Having said that if he had taken everything on his first hunt he might not have re-booked so quickly. We obviously saw lots of other game. All shots were taken on foot and after good long stalks. Longest shot was around 100 yards and closest shot was about 25 yards (red duiker). All taken off of shooting sticks. I've been hunting this area for about 12 years and love it to bits. The camps are truly superb and are especially good for a family.

The Buff was shot in Tanzania last year. 4 guys had booked a 4x2 RSA plains game hunt with me, which was the last week of my RSA season and they also had the first week of my Tanzanian season for a 4x2 Buff hunt..... that's a great way to have a hunt. ( The Tanzanian part costs $8750 per hunter including taxes, licences and the 1st Buff each etc)

In RSA they shot something like 38 animals between them (most over RW minimums) and then we went to hunt the Burigi Controlled Hunting Area where they all shot their Buff. This one was shot from about 35 yards in really thick cover after we had hunted right into the middle of the herd..... just like I love it. The other PH in RSA was a guy who freelances for me named Jason Van Aarde who despite being only 25 years old is one of the best PHs I have ever met. He moves through the bush like smoke. The other PH I used in Tanzania is a Moroccan buddy of mine called Laurent Garcia....... another great PH, he's especially great with cats. Frankly I only hire the very best, as I believe a client pays so much money for a hunt, it's not fair to land him (or her) with second best...... it's bad enough that they have to put up with my sense of humour!

Full prices and details of hunting areas and camps etc can be found on my website at www.kuduland.com. If anyone would like a brochure, then they can apply online and I'll put one in the post.

Although I'm just getting the new 2004 prices in now, I don't expect any prices anywhere to increase to any dramatic extent. Some trophy prices will go up but some will also come down. It all depends upon the game management plan for each area.

For those who are interested, any NE or AR posters who book a 2004 hunt and pay the deposit in 2003 will get 10% discount from the 2004 daily rate..... if that makes sense.

I'm off to Tanzania next month for a Buff hunt or two and then home again for some plains game hunting in RSA then onto Mozambique for Buff & Elephant before returning to Tanzania for more Buff plus Elephant and Lion..... ain't life a bitch!!!!! Hopefully I'll manage to get home from time to time for a few breaks from eating those bloody Buffalo!

Once again, thanks for posting the pics and I hope the other posters out there enjoy them. I'll wait until the guesses on the kudu horns slow down then I'll announce the winner and send the prize.

Cheers
