Thanks for the replies, my question was not so much about building a rifle on these actions but the safety in shooting these older guns, such as the Frasers etc. that use these actions.
Obviously one wouldn't " stoke them up " too much, mainly for fear of destroying an expensive piece of history, but as most were cordite loaded I'm assuming they were not hot loads. Anything in the 2000 to 2400 fps range gets the job done as these were stalking rifles not long range snipers.
