Ripp, the newer models, as in the last ten years or so are superb. They have their own patented LED which can be turned down to a very small dull dot so that you can shoot at longer distances, or up very bright for use during a sunny day with a light background. The battery life is 50000 hours, not 5000. They are very well made, light weight and as they are shorter than a normal scope they also have superb eye relief and give you heaps of room to cycle the bolt rapidly without hitting the scope. I use a H30L for hunting and a H34L for competitions. You will not get on target quicker with any other optical device than an Aimpoint. Once you have used one of the reflex and red dot sights from other manufacturers their products will seem pretty poor in comparison. Of course the Aimpoint scopes are not much good after about 150 yards max. but they are very usable out to 100 yards. I love them.

Have to disagree about the 150mts. I have used them to 500mts. Like old iron sights, if you can see the target and know your hold over you can hit it. The originals on Anti Aircraft cannons would be used at more than 500mts.
