I procrastinated for a long time wether or not to purchase a Ascent. Price for 600gram saving just didn't seem to be worth an extra grand over a extreme weather. Also the calibre I wanted wasn't available.
New owners in the shop up here said it would take 10 days to get one in 270WSM. Gave me a good price !
Out of the box it is well made finish is good. Trigger was terrible and I've had that fixed at a crisp 2 1/2 lb. Muzzle break is horrific, but tames the recoil very well very mild to shoot. Ill leave it on for NZ.
Shoots well even with the heavy trigger. Settled on the barnes 130's for my thar load.
For a light weight hiking / mountain rifle that will cop some abuse it will suit my needs.
Ill see how it goes in a couple of weeks. Cheers Mick
