Suggest you give a good hard look at the 219 Donaldson Wasp in your project. It is one of the most inherently accurate cartridges I have ever built on Martini. 30-30 parent case.

I have not built a gun myself for a number of years due arthritis in my hands. Here is my last martini build.

Before:

A rusted out Model 1215 parts gun. I resurrected it and it is now a 17 HM2.

After:

I found this picture of a Cadet I built into a .22 K Hornet for my late wife. She would only shoot gophers for a long time until she got this gun. She didn't like the .22 LR for shooting rock chucks. Once she got this gun she changed her mind and would go after every chuck she saw. Lost her 6 years ago tomorrow.

I had vJohn Taylor build a couple of 17 Hornady Hornets. One on a Model 6 action and the other on a Model 1215. The New wife likes to shoot Rock chucks also. I loaned her one of my 17 HH to shoot these chucks and she won't give the gun back

That 17 Hornady Hornet is an awesome gopher gun. It is a good killer on chucks.

I have also built a couple of 17 HMR's on 1215 actions by simply installing a new 17 cal barrel liner, modifying the extractor, adjusting the striker impact and adjusting load position.

I also had a Westley Richard Sherwood action rebarrelled and chambered for .219 Donaldson Wasp. Years ago when I was active , I built a number of these for other people. I did have one of my own but I sold it. I decide I need one.

I am getting ready to move at the end of the year from Montana to Oklahoma. Once I get settled, I have a 1215 that I am going to build into 7-30 Waters. It will be my one last custom build. With my poor grip it may not be my best build, but it still will be better than riding a rocking chair.
