how not to pay the big shipping bills?

I am becomming fed up with paying the ever rising shipping bills for trophies from anywhere in Africa.The last batch cost nearly what the safari did!
Other than not bringing my capes/horns home what options are there?
I am considering just good quality photos this trek vs. Euro mounts, tanned hides,etc.
Anyone else fed up/ Have you found a way other than sea freight to ship your trophies/ did you ever leave your animals behind?
