NO--cant use dogs in Montana to hunt bear--you can in Idaho ..

You can use dogs in Montana to chase mountain lions..need special permits but dogs can be used for lions...

If you are just going for a hike or back pack trip you can have dogs..but that can be a problem also as the dogs will take off back to you once chased by the bear..suddenly you have your dog back along with a 3-400lb bear on its tail..
