$2,500US - bit rich, but very nicely finished - loverly indeed, Rip. Currently, most cowboy action shooters are running Uberti/Chiappa (or some such) or Pedersoli rifles which are really nice. The odd newly manufactured Winchester Model 86, Browning '86 or the pistol gripped BEAUTIFUL Pedersoli Model '86/41 shows up. My bro just took delivery of the Pedersoli Pistol Gripped '86 rifle and it's much nicer than his Browning Model 1886 - fit and finish. How they shoot comparatively? I don't know - yet.

In the cowboy action stuff.

I used his Pedersoli or Uberti Colt Lightening in .45 Colt on the weekend and took third in modern class (smokeless & 2 hands on the revolvers). This was over 5 courses of fire using revolvers, shotgun and rifle. It was also my first cowboy action shoot. Another retired Mounty came out and took second, beating me overall by 2 seconds.
I borrowed a Schofield .45 S. and an 1858 .44 converted to .45 Colt. totally different, but they shot where I pointed them.

I also managed to shoot down 10 out of 12 shots in a challenge, with my Uberti .50/95 model 1876 Win. all but one of the 200yard targets (rams, turkeys + 1 closer pig). My team won - but I kinda hogged the targets, though - seems to me, I got 16 out of about 28 all together for my 4 man team. I fired 20 shots - 12 from the model 76 and 9 from the Lightening. 2 targets hit with the lightening did not fall - too low, I guess. We had a good team and finished knocking all down in 3 minutes 28 seconds. All the other teams took over 5 minutes. Challenges are fun & the Uberti model 1876 in .50/95 is the one to beat!
