Funny post. I guess the local villagers were some local cats. We used to have a cat on our farm called "Liger". Because he had the colouring of a lion but faint stripes of a tiger ... He used to come running when he heard shots to see if any unwanted birds were available. Me was a killer mouser too. But his grey furry brother was better. A fat house cat, he just sat there and mice ran towards hin, a quick movement of his head and jaws and he had another one. Why waste enery chasing them!

Lovely gun too.

I hope to see those trophies registered with SCI soon and a suitable "grand slam" trophy awarded to you (with a minor fee of $11,984.27 to cover the costs ... )
