Shotgun or rifle? Single or double? Vintage damascus or modern steel?

A good load for a shotgun might be 80gr 2F, card wad, 1/2-inch greased felt wad, 1oz to 1 1/4 oz shot, over-shot card wad.

The standard 3-dram load is 82 grains of powder.

Some enthusiasts might recommend 3F powder if the gun is sound.
