Rick

When we first started talking about this I thought we were talking about the 0.921 as diameter of the bore at the muzzle. If that 0.921 is the diameter at the breech then thechamber dimensions are more in the range to be expected for an eight gauge even if the proof marks show the bore diameter to be a six bore (0.919). If your measurement is correct then the Chamber is tight even for an eight bore suggesting perhaps it was chambered for a thin brass case.

Assuming it is chambered for an eight bore case which can be determined by making a cerrosafe or sulphur chamber cast, there are procedures for loading Industrial cases as shown on the website below:

"Reloading 8 bore cartridges

Reloading 8 bore cartridges is a slightly more complicated job than all the other cartridges.

Original 8 bore cases are now in very short supply and are mainly now collectable.

In the late 70s, 8 bore shooters realised that they were able to convert Remington Industrial 8 gauge cases to feed there old wildfowling pieces. The Industrial case is the same general size as a normal 8 but has a stepped head to stop it chambering in a gun – a safety feature as these fired a 3 oz slug! As you will see from the photo’s below it is relatively easy to convert these although once again time consuming. Once it has been resized we load in the normal way. I use a 2 ton arbour press to resize the cases and it is a 2 part process. We first squeeze the case through ring 1 and then turn round and knock out. It is then pushed through ring 2 which brings it to normal cartridge size. I also reprime at this stage. The case mouth then needs to be resized with a mandrel and light hammer.

And finally to loading . . ."

Cheers
