The rifle was put together "for the trade" in Germany. It was proofed by the Munich proofhouse 666 = June 1966. The stocks were usually supplied by a now defunct stockmaking company in Bishofsheim,Rhoen, Bavaria. Such rifles were almost the hunting rifle Standard in Germany in the 1960s. Identical rifles were offered by the big German mail order houses "Frankonia", Würzburg as their "Favorit-Standard" at DMark 349.-, by Ed. Kettner, Koeln, as their "Stadtvogt" at DM 425.-.These models were the cheapest hunting bolt actions offered in Germany. One US$ was then still about DM 4.-. Typical "earmarks" of these models were an ex-military 98k action, double set trigger, soldered on sight bases and front sling swivel and the hogback stock with white spacers, a slight "Schnabel" mimicking protrusinon under foreend and "Scottish" scip-line checkering. Without finding additional marks, maybe under Barrel and foreend, it is impossible to identify the maker who put it together. Any German gunsmith may have bought in the parts and assembled the rifle. Scope and claw mount are perfectly contemporary, new in the 1960s too.
