I PH (mostly) in Mozambique, RSA & Tanzania plus a little in 3 or 4 other countries, so I guess I get to see more of the industry than many.

RSA is great for plains game hunting if you are happy to hunt behind wire. Prices and camp facilities are unbeatable. Other than that you really need to go elsewhere if you want to hunt dangerous game in the proper manner & at a reasonable price. (if such a term can be applied)

In RSA Buff have to be clean and are consequently expensive. Elephants are ex-park animals and consequently ignore people and vehicles etc. Leopard are so educated it's not true, and their licences (mostly) go through so many hands it's embarrasing. Lion, well you all know that story....... and so it goes on.

If you want to hunt dangerous game in the true spirit of African hunting you must go to a true wilderness such as Mozambique or Tanzania and you have to pay the price for doing so. It's as simple as that.

As there is no such thing as a free lunch you will find that the going rate for a Buff hunt in a true wilderness area starts at around US$8500 for a 2x1 hunt which will include all taxes and fees and the trophy fee on 1 Buffalo per hunter.

South African daily rates currently start at around US$180 per hunter per day plus trophy fees.

Having said that, it's one of the best experiences any hunter could possibly have and worth every penny.!!
